Non-intervention and subsequent\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003enatural succession would lead to extensive losses of area of these\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003ehabitat\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003etypes.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003eFor this reason, the German Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (BfN)\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003econducted a workshop on this issue based on input and experience of experts\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003efrom various countries and disciplines. One focus was on oak and oak-hornbeam\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003eforest habitat types in Germany and France with excursions to respective\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003estands in the Bienwald (Germany) and the Northern\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003eVosges (France). Other \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003ehabitat types like lichen pine forests or chestnut woods was also been\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003eaddressed.
